Wind speed data and statistical analysis at Rangpur, Bangladesh

Md. Ahsan Habib

Abstract

Wind speed is one of the most important power energy resource that is used to evaluate the suitable site. This paper examines the characteristics of wind speed and the potential of wind power of Rangpur, Bangladesh over four years period from 2016 to 2020 by using the statistical methods. The probability density distributions
are obtained from the data over time series and the distributional parameters are signified. Two probability density functions; Weibull distribution and Rayleigh distribution, are used to assess the probability distributions on the monthly basis. This paper is relevant with decision-making process regarding the
significant effect of the wind power.
